Xylem Earth Day Weekend Events

Happy Earth Day everyday earthlings! Xylem will be celebrating this weekend by vending at two inspiring and educational festivals, the Tadasana International Festival of Yoga and Music in Santa Monica and the Earth Day festival in San Francisco. Here’s a little info about them both.

Tadasana International Festival of Yoga and Music April 20^th -22^nd

This three day event on the Santa Monica beach features Yoga classes, inspirational speakers, devotional and dance music, fine organic food and an ecological marketplace of organic handmade goods. Some of the worlds most well known and sought after Yoga teachers will be there offering more than 75 classes in a variety of yogic traditions. Devotional music artists from around the world will grace the classes with live performances as well as light up the night with ecstatic dance parties around town. The all-star music line-up features fine kirtan artists like Wah, Kirtan Rabbi and Jai Uttal. MC Yogi will be both teaching Yoga as well as performing his radically cutting edge style of Kirtan Hip-Hop. And Legendary pioneers of ethnic electronic dance music, Cheb I Sabbah and Karsh Kale will both be gracing the festival with their ecstatic grooves. Earth Day San Francisco 2012 April 22nd

This one day free event is full of educational opportunities, music, art, dance, kids activities and an organic marketplace. There will be continuous permaculture workshops and speakers all day, visionary panel discussions, informational presentations, indigenous peoples music and dance, Do It Yourself exhibits, organic gardening and cooking presentations, art and all kinds of booty shakin, heart lifting live music to inspire and move you. Spring is still teasing us here in the great northwest. The daffodils and cherry blossoms are braving the occasional storm and the rains pour forth from an endless source. But Xylem has been warming things up with a raging creative fire. New designs, new incarnations of old designs, new organic fabrics and new colors all ready to be unveiled very soon! We recently had a little party for a few friends and fans who were able to try on the new designs and give feedback. Our founding mothers and talented designers Danielle Brodsky and Jazzie Januari were pleased to see their new creations harmoniously combined into unique outfits. We have a new take on the beloved spring bloomers that you’re sure to love. As well as new organic shirts that beautifully combine some of our most popular tanks and long sleeves into the perfect top. An adjustable skirt that can be super sexy one minute, elegantly professional the next and that can also double as a happenin mini dress is getting everybody excited for a hot summer. And speaking of hot…introducing the new Xylem Organic G-string panties! They are oh so soft and comfortable, with the perfect amount of lace and just one of the new additions to our growing line of organic intimates. We also have a new line of 100% organic cotton yoga wear as well as many other fruits of our creative labor. And its all handmade with love from organic, fair-trade fabrics right here in Oregon.

In Support of The Camas Educational Network

Xylem Clothing will be featured in the silent auction at the Camas Educational Network’s annual fundraiser dance party and costume ball. The event will be held March 24th at Territorial Vineyards tasting room in Eugene, Oregon.

Camas Educational Network is a non-profit organization in Eugene, Oregon dedicated to community education in environmental restoration and stewardship. They offer many programs in site-based learning, provide technical assistance to enhance local ecosystems and cultivate ecological literacy.
Their School Restoration Program works with public and private schools to teach sustainable development and enhance community through the integration of environmental education and landscape restoration.
Providing technical assistance to students, teachers and administrators this program restores critical habitat for rare species, advocates for open spaces, protects ecosystems from development and spearheads the path toward sustainability.
The Camas Educational Network is also teaming up with the Lane Arts Council to design and implement an arts based environmental learning experience, utilizing a variety of artistic mediums to deepen students’ understanding of the natural world.
The Community Stewardship Program helps students cultivate a deep knowledge of and appreciation for local ecology and an awareness of the effect of our ecological footprint. Participants in the Camas’ Community Stewardship Program discover traditional ecological knowledge regarding uses of plants and animals and the mechanisms to harvest, process, utilize and protect the natural resources.
The Camas Educational Network is run by a team of dedicated volunteers and relies on donations to do their very important work. Every spring they have a fundraiser to raise money for the projects of the coming year. It is always a fun-filled event rich in good music, and fine food and drink with plenty of opportunity to connect and network with experts and activists of environmental restoration.

This year as a fundraiser, Camas Educational Network presents a dance party and costume ball entitled “The Good, the Bad and the Funky”.
It features a fun line-up of talented musical projects, a silent auction, local organic wines, microbrews, teas and gourmet appetizers and costume contest.

So come out to support sustainability and stewardship and shake your booty at The Good, the Bad and the Funky on March 24th at the Territorial Vineyards tasting room in Eugene.
